Qui Erudit Eruditori?

A reply to a recent message from my child’s school. Edited for anonymity, of course.
.
re: proposed school name change:
.
Dear (xxxxx),
.
I respond to your request for my opinion on changing the name of my child’s school to reflect the ‘crucial role’ that (the company) has played in ‘recent developments’.
Surely, (the company)’s primary ‘role’, indeed, motivation, is to expand and acquire more assets? This is how education for profit works, is it not? I ask why this act is considered ‘crucial’ and worthy of recognition – as if some act of charity has just taken place?
.
While I confess a level of concern regarding UK government’s ‘academy’ program as a whole, as long as parents are not expected to fund, in any way, what amounts to free branding and advertising for (the company), I have no objections.
.
My chief concern is that my daughter receives excellent tuition in, and exposure to, a broad range of subjects and ideas but, specifically, in English, mathematics and, (given the overwhelming amount of ‘Fake News’ out there),  critical/free-thinking skills.
.
This being the case, the name of the educational establishment she attends is, to me, as irrelevant as how Sir xxxxxxx (CEO) pays his gas bill.
.
Yours, sincerely,
.
(xxxxxxxxx)
.
.
p.s. I did, however, experience a soupçon of shaken confidence when the letter, to which I now respond, asked me to reply to the following sentence:
.
“My opinion on changing the name of the school to ‘(xxxxxxxxxx)’ are:”
.
Perhaps this could be included in a test paper, soon.
